Director’s Chair
A Conversation with Alex Jablonski
By Lucy Copp

Alex Jablonski directed Wildland, a cinematic portrait of a single wildland firefighting crew in Grants Pass, Oregon. Through these intimate stories we, the audience, learn the struggle and search of many of these men for their life’s meaning and purpose. Shot over the course of one wildfire season this film peers into the lives and psyches of those who sign up to fight fires during a time that some call “an epidemic of fires” for the Pacific Coast.
