Director Goddy created Polycat Animation along with Lloyd Wilgen – an experimental 3D animation collaborative that employs a diverse group of artists.
Goddy Roodt’s work is easily identified by his strong stories, engaging characters and unique brand of humor. In 2014, Goddy created Polycat along with Lloyd Wilgen – an experimental 3D animation shop working with advertising agencies on commercials for high profile brands, some of which included Unilever, WildAid, and Skyship Entertainment. Goddy enjoys pushing limits – his own and the technology that he uses. In 2009, at the age of eighteen, Goddy won first place in the MOC Overclocking Competition – a competition based around the practice of increasing the “clock rate” of a computer to make the computer go faster than the manufacturer intended – for creating the fastest computer in the world. Goddy brings his love of art and computers together through 3D animation. Goddy knows a story beat is working when he has an intense emotional reaction. Goosebumps, tears, laughter. Emotions always come first. And it is only when you provoke an audience’s emotional response that you can say you’ve created entertainment. He is currently co-directing his first animated feature film, GRACIE & PEDRO: PETS TO THE RESCUE.
