Justine is an Academy Award-nominated, Emmy Award-winning documentary film director and producer. She was the original host of the landmark TV travel series Globe Trekker (aka Lonely Planet). She has filmed in over 40 countries around the world.
Justine co-directed/co-produced the documentary film “Promises” with B.Z. Goldberg. The film, which features seven Palestinian and Israeli children, continues to be one of the most popular resources for educators teaching the Palestine/Israel conflict. Justine’s documentary film “Our Summer in Tehran” takes us into the domestic sphere of three Iranian families. “Our Summer in Tehran” premiered on PBS and is used in schools and at think tanks such as The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (WWICS), and The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).Justine directed a pilot for “Window Seat” a web-based series featuring conversations with documentary filmmakers. Justine was the original host of the landmark TV travel series “Globe Trekker” (aka Lonely Planet). She has filmed in over 40 countries, interviewing hundreds of locals from all walks of life and delivering her spontaneous reflections to a global television audience of an estimated 300 million. Justine hosted the PBS series Time Team America about archeological digs across the USA and she hosted the pilot for Global Moms, a series about how children are raised around the world. From 1996-2018 Justine served as the Executive Director of Promises Films, an educational non-profit organization. Universities and high schools across the USA and around the world have invited Justine to speak about her travels and work. Justine was born in South Africa and grew up in Berkeley California. She is conversant in French and Spanish. <br />
