With over 20 years of experience in curation and production of independent documentaries, film festivals, panel conversations, and as grant-making advisor, Leah centers her work on social justice, accountability, inclusivity, and impact. As Associate Director at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival for 11 years Leah led efforts to embed accessible, inclusive and trauma-informed practices - from programming / curation to event production - while building on her relationships in the international film, human rights and journalism worlds. Leah’s background as a curator, grants advisor and impact producer has both grown from and led her to institutions such as POV, Tribeca Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Sundance Film Institute, Chicken & Egg Pictures, Catapult Film Fund, Rooftop Films and Arts Engine. Her social justice in film work began at the Media That Matters Film Festival where she brought grassroots advocates, storytellers, youth, and educators together to use film as a tool for social change. The intersection of ethics, accountability, impact and care has guided Leah’s many roles and collaborations over the years, in which she has strived to center the dignity and authority of those most marginalized and co-build deep and meaningful impact, while honoring creative storytelling. Leah continues this work - most recently as advisor on individual film projects and as a Juror at CPH:DOX and SIMA. Leah is also offering direct services with Film in Mind, who advocate for better mental health in the film industry, while helping to grow their work on accountability and impact. In this session we will begin creating an accountability audit and integrate learnings into your film's production. Together we will strengthen your film by enhancing transparency, empowering film team members, participants and the communities impacted by your film while promoting safe and ethical practices for everyone involved. Further sessions may include: - facilitated conversations with a network of experts from journalism, activism, advocacy, and media / film to collectively identify comprehensive solutions, resources, and partners for your specific ethical and safety challenges e.g. how to work with issues outside of your lived experience, how to navigate consent when interviewing minors, or how to interview people who have undergone trauma. - building an accountability plan and checkpoints for progress, creating written agreements for collaborators to ensure ethical alignment, and/or brainstorming language, messaging and perspective in your work.

This session will be a great next step in building an impact plan for your film and reviewing language for grant applications. Together we will work to identify goals, strategies, partners and outline next steps - this may include further facilitated conversations with my network of experts from journalism, activism, advocacy, and media, or connecting you to impact producers or others in the film world to expand the potential impact of your film.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my consultation?

What happens if I miss my consultation?
