Peabody award winning and Emmy and BAFTA nominated Scottish director Mike Day’s documentary work has been broadcast on the BBC, PBS, and in cinemas & festivals around the world.
A former lawyer, Mike headed into the North Atlantic on a boat with a camera to a rock 40 miles north of the Isle of Lewis to film a secretive seabird hunt, and returned with his debut, The Guga Hunters of Ness, in 2009, which was then commissioned by the BBC. He went on to spend 4 years filming with the pilot whale hunters in the Faroe Islands, which became The Islands and the Whales. This was followed by western feature documentary, Cowboy Poets, in 2022. A life long sailor Mike's films have often involved the sea.
