Encouraging others is my superpower. I use it regularly as a proven public speaker, and I have delivered motivational talks on topics from writing and education to women's empowerment and diversity. I am currently an Associate Professor of Journalism, and I have been teaching for over 19 years. My past professional experience ranges from serving on the editorial staff of ESSENCE magazine to working as a copywriter and a freelance editor. I hold a dual undergraduate degree in Spanish studies and Writing for Telecommunications from Syracuse University, and an MFA in Fiction writing from Sarah Lawrence College.
