Veteran documentary filmmaker and writer, mostly for PBS, FRONTLINE, KQED, American Experience. Director and Producer, The Movement and the "Madman" (2023).
I have spent a long career in public television making documentaries for the FRONTLINE series, American Experience and KQED in San Francisco. Nearly 50 films, including four for NBC and several independent projects. My work has ranged from investigative documentaries to music specials, from foreign reports to biographies of writers. I have covered politics and the arts, history and the environment, economics and education. I have been fortunate to have received many awards for my work: Emmys, Peabodys, DuPonts, Webbys, a George Polk, an Edward R. Murrow Award from the Overseas Press Club of America, and the Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America. My latest film, Last Christian in Bethlehem, tells the story of Palestinian Christians struggling to survive under occupation in the West Bank.
