Today Lee Miller is celebrated as one of the most important photographers of the 20th Century but it wasn’t always the case. Her work had been forgotten for decades until her son rediscovered her pictures and decided to tell her story. Lee Miller’s life was as extraordinary as her photos. A Vogue model and then an artists’ muse she inspired some of the greatest names of the 20th C - Man Ray and Pablo Picasso both captured her image. But a life in front of the lens was not enough - she picked up a camera and built her own career as a photographer. She went on to become one of the very few female combat photographers in Europe during WW2 and was immortalised in a photo sitting in Hitler’s bath tub. She is now being celebrated in museums and galleries around the world.
