The Board of Directors of Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) is proud to announce that SIPA is celebrating our 50th year of serving Filipino/a/x Americans throughout Los Angeles.  

Each year, SIPA honors the community leaders and organizations that have worked tirelessly in alignment with our mission of enriching and empowering lives of Filipino Americans in our community of Historic Filipinotown and beyond. We hope that you will show your support by joining us on Saturday, October 15th for the SIPA 50th Anniversary Celebration and 2022 Barangay Awards, an in-person event to honor our community’s heroes who are navigating the uncertain tides of the current time. 

The SIPA Barangay Awards is named for the Tagalog word barangay, representing the village, barrio or one’s most intimate community. Derived from the word balangay which was a precolonial boat that brought people from island to island, barangay is representative of the building of relationships within and across communities. SIPA celebrates our barangay captains, or our community heroes who are navigating the uncertain tides of the current time, celebrating their leadership, courage, generosity and resilience.
