Join us to show our support of & solidarity with Ukraine by learning the beautiful art of making pysanky – Ukrainian Easter eggs — plus a private tour of the current exhibits at the Ukrainian Museum.

Ukrainians have been decorating eggs for countless generations. The design motifs on pysanky date back to pre-Christian times–many date to early Slavic cultures, and others to paleolithic times. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, "to write" or "to inscribe," as the designs are not painted on, but written (inscribed) with beeswax. We will be guided through how to make our own beautiful Pysanky, celebrating Ukrainian culture and heritage at this time when its existence is being threatened.

We will also have a private, guided tour of the beautiful Ukrainian Museum, which is the largest museum in the U.S. committed to acquiring, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting articles of artistic or historic significance to the rich cultural heritage of Ukrainians. Founded in 1976 by the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, current special exhibits include Finding Sanctuary During the Pandemic and In Bloom: Nature and Art.

All tickets for the 11:30am Pysanky workshop include the supplies Pysanky supplies (dyes, beeswax, eggs & stylus). Full experience tickets also include the 1:30pm tour of the museum. Option to join the group for Ukrainian brunch after the tour (not included in ticket price).

$10 from each ticket will be donated to the UN Women’s Fund for Ukrainian Women.
