In the Fall of 1970, American director Peter Bogdanovich arrived in Archer City, Texas, hometown of author Larry McMurtry, to film his novel, THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, about growing up in a small Texas town. Not long after, the film and this theater became a landmark of American cinema.
And now, 54 years later, we invite you to attend the Royal Theater premiere of the brand new film, WAYWARD KIN. The Royal was famously featured in Bogdanovich's Oscar-winning film and serves as the first place this independent film will be premiering at the end of April.
WAYWARD KIN is a family drama centered around a small town custody case scenes of which were filmed across the street from The Royal at the Archer County Courthouse. It follows Caleb Dodgens who immediately upon release from jail picks up his daughter from school without notifying the mother, Lillie Dyer, which ignites a vicious conflict between the parents.
For two nights only the film will be screening alongside its cast and crew in attendance at The Royal. Join us in celebrating this unique Texas town and the impact its had on the film world as we add to its legacy with this exclusive event. Purchase your tickets today as seating is limited.*
See you there!
